Here's one, maybe: I'm not a fan of mixing colors that you're traditionally not supposed to mix, like black with brown, or other clash-y colors, like a purple top with red pants and green shoes - seems like this comes in and out of fashion every now and then and I just think it looks like you are color-blind.
I also really really dislike it when people (ahem, DH) where a gray t-shirt with khaki pants or shorts - I don't think this is really a "rule," just something that bugs me!
Ok, and to stay on my fashion kick: I know it may be old-fashioned, but if you are wearing a skirt and it is not lined, or a thick fabric, you need to wear a slip! Otherwise, everyone can see the silouette of your legs through the skirt, not to mention a pantyline, and it looks trashy.
My first one today is that I think the expression "Food before one is just for fun" is so grossly overrused and misconstrued... both on the bump and IRL. Someone on the 6-9 month board was saying that she thought it would be great if she only gave breastmilk for the entire first year, nothing else. Then it happened again yesterday. So anyway... my UO is that I think that expression is stupid.
I agree. The expression is good for people who are worried about their LOs eating too little solids, but it does discourage people from introducing foods. It's a catchy phrase though, so it probably isn't going anywhere.
I agree on the chick-fil-a thing too. Yes, I have an opinion about it, but I don't feel the need to post about it where I know some of my opposite minded friends will flame me. There's enough discussion about it without making it my status message, especially since my facebook these days is mostly updates about DS.
My UO is that I hate overalls. If I'm going to put something on my baby that I don't want sliding off, I'm putting him in a onesie. If I put DS in a cute shirt, I don't want to put something on him that will cover the cute part of the shirt. On adults, overalls just look stupid. Unless you're doing yard work where you want to make sure they don't fall down, you shouldn't be wearing them.

I hope this isn't an UO!
Don't get me started on overalls. My H bought some for a Halloween costume back in the day and in the past few years he has started wearing them for any chore where he *might* get dirty. To make this look extra sweet, he wears them tucked into knee high rubber boots. Ugh.
I actually agree with death being the easy way out. But I don't think it should be the burden of the taxpayers to fund the life of an inmate in prison until they die when they should have been put to death decades earlier.
There is actually a prison in TX (I believe, don't quote me) that the inmates have to work and grow their own food and take care of animals that feed them, etc. All prisons should be like that.

I believe that at one time most prisons were self supporting, at least as far as food went. Something about forcing labor on inmates is why it stopped.

I did some research on the death penalty for a class in college and it is actually less expensive to keep someone in prison for life than it is to execute them.
I guess my UO would be that I am against the death penalty, not for reasons of expense, but because I don't think governments (or anyone for that matter) should kill people.

I agree. I mean when I hear a story of a killer the first impulse is, like for a lot of people, "ugh that guy should be taken out right now!" And I also agree that it would be the easy way out and they should all rott in prison and face the consequences every day. But most of all it's because it makes us no different then. They kill somebody and it's wrong to take a life and then you find somebody guilty, the judge says death penalty and bam, you just did the same thing. You took a life!

I also feel like a significant number of people who commit death-penalty-worthy crimes are suffering from some form of mental illness. Not that they can be treated, rehabilitated, and put back into society, but it doesn't seem right to kill them or to treat them horribly for the rest of their life when it's something they aren't totally in control of. I know there are exceptions for people who are truly insane, but even those who aren't diagnosed that way...I mean, it just seems like you'd HAVE to have some kind of mental problem to commit certain crimes.
Mine is also FB inspired, and a phrase that is so overused lately. I don't have a strong stance on the gun control issue. I can see valid arguments on both sides, but if I hear/read "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" or some form of that one more time I'm going to scream.
Obviously it's the people pulling the triggers that do the damage, but they're also what would be affected by stricter gun laws... limiting the people who can purchase and handle said guns. The phrase is catchy, but I feel like it's ridiculously silly, too. When I hear it I feel like both sides are arguing the same thing, it's irresponsible/crazy people that are the problem (say the gun supporters) and that's exactly what people who are supporting gun control what to filter... making the process stricter for people to buy guns.
my UO (which i don't think is an opinion at all) is that there are TOO MANY people who do not buckle their children into their car seats correctuly. i see pictures all the time (usually on fb) of babies in their car seats and the chest clip is below their chest (sometimes all the way to their belly buttons!) and/or the straps are so loose you could fit a d**n moose in there with them! I didn't used to think that this would be an issue at all, since most parents strive to do what's absolutely best for their children... and granted a lot of things are subjective. however using car seats correctly is NOT subjective or optional when it comes to good parenting. it needs to be done correctly, end of story!
why are so many of you concerned about what kind of underwear other people are wearing? it's kind of weird.
and I have a pair of overalls that I pull out every now and again.
I also wear long, thin-fabric skirts almost every day. and do not wear a slip.
The point of this thread is to state unpopular opinions. Sometimes it's more fun to state obscure things that annoy us than talk about big issue topics that just turns into a back and forth disagreement.

You would think this was implied based on the title...
This exactly.

There are way too many issues with the prosecutorial process in this country to have a death penalty. Too many death row inmates have been released years after the fact when it was determined that they were not the one's who committed the crime. This is why Illinois put a moratorium on using the death penalty a decade ago.
I hate when people say they have a nanny when they really just have a babysitter. Come on, you're not rich so stop pretending to be! A nanny lives with you, a babysitter comes over or you drop them off there.

Agreed on this, sick of hearing about it on my feed. It reminds me about how gross their food is. Ick.
Seriously. Why are we spending time discussing this? If you don't like their views, don't eat there. End of story.
